Apparently someone has been dumping their unwanted aquarium pets into our local lake, as I don't believe this particular species of piranha are indiginous to central Oklahoma.
Turns out the Pacu is a herbivore cousin to the piranha and won't feast on the limbs of any unsupecting, partially clad coed on summer break.
Might make for some interesting fish fry's in the future.

Somebody pulled one of those out of Sahoma Lake not too long ago. They're a non-native species, but so far, there's no indication that they're aggressive, invasive, or harmful. They are, however, creepy. The creepiest thing about them is that unlike piranhas, which have scary-but-respectable, pointy little razor-sharp fishy teeth that look like they ought to be in a little fishy mouth, these weird little vegetarian piranha wannabes have weird little vegetarian teeth perfectly suited for grinding plant material ... teeth that look EXACTLY LIKE HUMAN TEETH.
Freeeeeeeeaky.
